Our Mission

As members of the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour) community, our goal is to produce and provide rich and relevant resources that promote equity, diversity, and inclusion for students. This will build a foundation for best outcomes. Spearheaded by Co-Founders Michael and Lorraine Harris, our allies and advocates include school boards, school administrators, educators, parents, and community activists committed to supporting this vision.

Who Are We

There's an emerging body of research that suggests "values affirmation intervention and social belonging interventions have been shown to markedly improve academic performance and health of stigmatized racial groups. This is summarized in a 2019 article by Williams, Lawrence, and Davis, published in the Harvard annual reviews. The research concludes that self-affirmation strategies can enhance an individual's capacity to cope with stressful situations, lead to improved health behaviour, and academic success. My Place in This World curriculum resources align with these current research findings. Our efforts will bring about positive life outcomes for all students, especially those from the BIPOC community
